PSHE

PSHE Lead: Catherine Robson

At Lever House Primary School the teaching of Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) enables our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of a society. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of society.

Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the
wider community. The intent of our PSHE curriculum is to deliver a curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the outcomes for every child so that they know more, remember more and understand more. As a result of this they will become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. They will understand how they are developing personally and socially and have the confidence to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.

Our PSHE curriculum is implemented through the 1decision teaching materials, ensuring that learning opportunities are spread across the three core themes: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the Wider World. It also incorporates the HRE policy and identifies links to British Values and SMSC which are key skills in the curriculum. Children at Lever House will know more and remember more about PSHE by learning through videos of real-life dilemmas and scenarios, using their judgements to make decisions about different outcomes. The children at Lever House will recognise and apply the British Values of Democracy, Tolerance, Mutual respect, Rule of law and Liberty. The children will demonstrate a healthy outlook towards school and their attendance will be in-line or above national attendance and behaviour will be excellent.
