Physical Education Lead: Mrs Roxanne Baldwin

Physical Education and Sport are valued by the children at Lever House; they are keen to take part in a variety of sporting and physical activities. At Lever House, children are taught the links between physical activity and healthy bodies, lifestyles and minds. Through P.E. lessons as well as extra-curricular sporting activities, children learn resilience, perseverance and teamwork.

Teachers follow the Lancashire P.E. Scheme and are supported with further CPD opportunities with Sports Development coaches. Children receive two hours of high-quality teaching each week and we aim to have 60 active minutes a day. We have been awarded the Gold Schools’ Games Mark and received recognition for our continued work during school closures. These certificates can be found on our website. We plan for each Key Stage to take part in Sport Development led lessons each year. Year 4 and 5 children also receive swimming lessons for two terms per year. This year, we have had a running track put into our school field and classes are encouraged to ‘move a mile’ daily. The track has made the children more enthusiastic about running.

At Lever House, we plan our high-quality P.E. lessons using the Lancashire P.E. scheme. As our whole school approach, this ensures progression throughout a child’s journey at Lever House as the units and skills taught are built upon each year.  Lessons are adapted to suit all learning needs and for those with physical disabilities in order to provide equal opportunities for all children. We aim to provide all children with the ability to succeed and to reach the highest level of personal achievement. We ensure our P.E. lessons are tailored to develop a range of life skills and values to all of our children.
