Pupil Premium
Why Pupil Premium?
This is a Government initiative aimed at ‘narrowing the gap’ in attainment and progress for those children who historically, do not achieve as well in general, as other children. Therefore schools received funding for each child registered as eligible for ‘free school meals’ at any point in the last 6 years: £1,455 for pupils in EYFS to Year 6.
Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
School will also receive £2,530 for each pupil who has left local-authority care because of one of the following:
- adoption
- a special guardianship order
- a child arrangements order
- a residence order
Traditionally, PP (Pupil Premium) pupils do well at Lever House. In fact, no groups are left behind ‘the rest’ and no gaps form.
This is due, we feel, to the rigorous and robust pupil tracking system in place which ensures all pupils, regardless of their starting points and personal situations, make sufficient progress in order to meet and often exceed, age-related expectations.
As a school, we evaluate how our money is spent in order to maximise the impact every pound can make for individual pupils and as a school as a whole. The pupils who benefit from this funding have made good progress and have good attainment and are generally at least in line with the progress and attainment made by pupils nationally. They have also received experiences, materials and attended events which they might not have received without the funding.
