At Lever House, we see mathematics as an essential life skill and a practical tool with which children can make sense of the world around them. We offer children a comprehensive foundation in all areas of mathematics through a varied experience of the subject.

Creativity, Learning and Fun are fundamentals for all of our subjects. We want children to explore and enjoy mathematics with a creative mind, where there isn’t always a single ‘correct’ answer, and to become resilient learners for later life. 

⚪️ White Rose Maths:

We deliver a mastery approach to the teaching and learning of mathematics, implemented through the White Rose Maths materials, ensuring that all pupils have access to a curriculum that deepens their mathematical understanding and also encourages a creative approach to the subject. Whilst we follow the planning as a guideline, we modify it wherever necessary to suit the needs of our children. White Rose enables our learners to build skills step by step. Topics are broken into small, manageable parts and focus on understanding, not just memorising — pupils are encouraged to explain why an answer works. 

🧮 Mastering Number:

As part of our mastery approach to mathematics, our EYFS and KS1 pupils access the NCETM’s Mastering Number programme. The sessions aim to develop children’s fluency in calculation, as well as their confidence and flexibility with number, so that, over time, they leave KS1 with a secure understanding of key number concepts and strategies.

From October 2026, pupils will also be accessing Mastering Number for KS2. This will allow pupils in Years 4 and 5 to develop fluency in multiplication and division facts, and a confidence and flexibility with number that exemplifies good number sense.
